Gary Lineker's quote has been around for decades, but it's had to be updated twice in the last week.
The first time was after Germany's shock defeat to South Korea in the group stage. The second time was after Germany's elimination from the tournament in the round of 16 by England.
Lineker's original quote was made after England lost to Germany in the semi-finals of the 1990 World Cup. Germany has won the World Cup four times, more than any other country.
However, Germany's recent performances have shown that they are not invincible. They were knocked out of the 2018 World Cup in the group stage, and they were eliminated from the 2020 European Championship in the round of 16.
Lineker's quote may still be true some of the time, but it's certainly not true all the time.
