Boars Head Recalls Deli Meat Linked to Listeria Outbreak

Products Recalled

amid an outbreak of listeria that has killed two people in the United States. Boars Head Provisions Co. Inc., a Jarratt, Va. establishment, is recalling approximately 200,000 pounds of ready-to-eat liverwurst products and some other meat and cheese products that may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

Products Affected

The recalled products include: * Liverwurst in various sizes and packages * Ham and liverwurst trays * Turkey and liverwurst trays * Liverwurst chubs The products were produced on various dates between June 12, 2023, and July 11, 2023, and were shipped to retail stores and food service establishments nationwide.

Symptoms of Listeria

Listeriosis is a serious infection that can cause fever, muscle aches, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. In severe cases, it can lead to meningitis or bloodstream infections. Pregnant women, the elderly, and people with weakened immune systems are at higher risk for severe illness. Anyone who has purchased the recalled products is urged not to consume them. The products should be returned to the store where they were purchased for a full refund.
