Boars Head Recalls Deli Meats After Listeria Found

**UPDATE: July 26, 2024**

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has announced that Boars Head Provisions Co. Inc. is recalling approximately 207,000 pounds of deli meat products due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The recalled products include:

  • Liverwurst
  • Ham products

The products were produced at the company's Jarratt, Virginia, establishment and have been distributed to retail stores nationwide. FSIS is urging consumers to not eat the recalled products and to discard them immediately.

Listeriosis, the infection caused by the bacterium Listeria monocytogenes, can cause fever, muscle aches, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. In severe cases, it can lead to meningitis or bloodstream infections. Listeria is particularly dangerous for pregnant women, newborns, the elderly, and people with weakened immune systems.

The recalled products have the establishment number "EST. 19935" inside the USDA mark of inspection. Consumers with questions about the recall can contact Boars Head Provisions Co. Inc. at 1-800-332-2341.
